Healing Perspectives: August 2007
Welcome!
Well I'm doing something that I have said I was going to do for years - I'm taking the month of August off, and boy is it much needed. So, instead of the regular Healing Perspectives newsletter I've included an article I wrote for the physical therapy textbook, Neurological Rehabilitation. I hope you enjoy it and are enjoying your summer.
Light & Love,

Medical Intuitive Diagnostics: The Old is New Again
Presented by Carol Ritberger, Ph.D., Medical Intuitive
The practice of medicine as traditionally defined is undergoing an exciting transformational change. Through modern technology and research, many of the ancient concepts are being re-validated. No longer are those involved in the health and healing modalities able to ignore the effectiveness of ancient therapeutic and diagnostic tools, nor are they able to deny the presence of the subtle energy body. The use of intuitive diagnosis is re-emerging as a complementary method for identifying illness. Intuitive diagnosis works with the human energy system for the purpose of identifying imbalances and malfunctions in the physical body.
The human energy system (the aura) is in actuality an extended sensory system that is an integral part of the communication network connecting the mind and the body. It is electromagnetic in nature and acts as an antenna that is sensitive to both internal and external stimuli. The primary function of this energy system is to receive, interpret, transmit, and store information. It is rich in both biographical and biological information. Biographically, its electromagnetic interpretation instructs the cellular structure of the body, through an electrochemical dialogue, to store all emotional reactions of our thoughts and experiences. Biologically it directly reflects the DNA structure and the state of all of the body's major systems. The energy body, as with the physical body, has predetermined communication pathways that instruct it how to make known the state of health or lack of it in the physical body.
The pathways of the energy body include the endocrine and chakra systems. In the physical body, the master glands of the endocrine system manufacture the major hormones that control all the chemical production of the body and, as a result, control the biochemical dialogue to our cellular structure. The locations of the seven major endocrine glands are also the locations for the seven major spiritual centers of the body. These spiritual centers are called chakras. The chakras function at the etheric and subtle levels. Consequently, the chakra and endocrine systems pair up to act as energetic pathways (transducers) from the subtle level to the physical level.
A person who has developed their intuitive skills to the point that they can access the information found in the human energy system and in the physical body is called a medical intuitive. The role of the medical intuitive is to the read the body both energetically and physically and to link all of the information together in such a way that they can provide a comprehensive analysis of a person's state of health and overall well-being. Their intent is to uncover the physiological, psychological, and psychospiritual contributors responsible for the formation of illness. Through the use of intuition, a medical intuitive is able to analyze a person's energy for the purpose of:
- Identifying where energetic imbalances are occurring
- Determining the origin sites of the imbalances
- Clarifying what is triggering the imbalances, for example; emotional, psychological and/or spiritual issues
- Identifying how these imbalances are affecting the physical body
- Analyzing all of the parts of the body that are being affected
- Determining what needs to be done to restore energetic and physical balance
The primary goal of this type of diagnostic process is to lead a person into self-knowledge and then describe ways that they can facilitate their own healing process. The benefits of working with a medical intuitive are:
- They can provide a comprehensive picture of what is creating the potential for illness since they work with all aspects of a person's well being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
- They can offer insight into the deeper struggles in a person's life that are creating blockages.
- They can reveal what needs to be done in order to restore balance to into a person's life.
- They can help the person connect with issues that are preventing them from having the life and health they desire.
Case Study: Michael – Age 55
Here is an example of how I assess the energy field for the purpose of identifying energy imbalances and physical malfunctions.
Energy analysis: Extreme overall depletion of the energy system. Suffers from physical exhaustion and shows signs of chronic fatigue. Electrical storms in head area. Mental disarray. Chemical imbalance in brain. Signs of damage and malfunction to areas in the right side of the brain. Very little energy activity on right side of brain. Erratic energy flow in both arms. More on left side. Tremors in both hands, however, more so in left hand. Red energy protrusion in area of brain where brain stem originates. This energy buildup is affecting motor skills, causing energy blockages in the upper spine, primarily the second, third, fourth, and fifth cervical vertebrae. Signs of nerve degeneration. Severe muscle tension in shoulder area and mid-back. Auric colors indicate buildup of toxins and waste in muscle structure. Signs of depression. Color red/brown indicates central nervous system affected. Most of his energy is focused in the upper torso area. Lower extremities show very little energy flow. Poor circulation in legs and feet. His weak sites are the chest, neck, and upper shoulders (4th and 5th chakras), and specifically the cerebrospinal nervous system.
My conclusion is that he has what appear to be early stages of Parkinson's disease. However, I did not tell him what I thought it was, instead suggested he see a neurologist.
Diagnosis: Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease four months after this reading.
Psychological and psychospiritual causes: Extreme unwillingness to deal with change and the overwhelming need to control. He believed that if he did not have complete control of everything, his life would fall apart. He lacked belief in himself and had emotional issues pertaining to low self-esteem, a lack of drive and absence of courage to go after what he wanted. He always felt he was not worthy of having what he had. Childhood experiences and the negative emotions he attached to them affected his self-worth. He believed that his life had no meaning or purpose. He lived with the belief that it was a mistake that he was even born. His mother told him at a very young age that she never wanted to have him. Michael had lived his life based on the erroneous perception that he would never be loved nor was worthy of getting what he desired.
There was a strong energy loss around his spiritual belief system. This was contradictory because Michel was raised in a very structured, strict religious belief system that should have strengthened rather that disconnected him from his beliefs. Michael said that he felt that his God had abandoned him because he was an unwanted child.
The session revealed that Michael was afraid of change and that he never took the time to re-evaluate the beliefs that were limiting him. As a result he was not able to get in touch with his insecurities. The struggle between his emotional and spiritual issues caused him to disconnect from himself. His life focus was more on existing than discovering his true talents.
Energetically, Parkinson's disease reflects the unwillingness to change and the lack of faith in God and life. It also represents a feeling of being alone and feeling unsafe in an uncaring world. In clinical terms the use of medical intuition as a diagnostic tool is effective when analyzing a multitude of illnesses. Since medical intuitive diagnosis is not a treatment modality it does not require repeated visits. Some clients do choose, however, to continue to work with a medical intuitive as a means of evaluating the progress of treatment processes.
Complementary Medical Teams of the Future
As we seek to gain a greater understanding of why we become ill there appears to be an open-mindedness toward the integration of complementary healing modalities. Many major learning institutions as well as hospitals are currently offers a Complementary Medical Clinic with teams including physicians, and alternative practitioners (medical intuitives being one). In essence, the combination of allopathic medicine and alternative medicine can be of great value to the patient. Here's why:
- Each practitioner brings their own expertise, skills, and training to the diagnostic and healing process. The physician and the healing practitioner work with the patient to restore balance and health to the physical body, and the medical intuitive assists in providing a more comprehensive assessment of the root cause of the illness.
- Each practitioner has their own way of gathering the necessary information so they can determine the cause of illness. The physician works with the standard medical history of the person, and the medical intuitive works with the person's beliefs and biographical history.
- The physician works to heal the body, while the medical intuitive assists to determine origin of malfunction and the alternative practitioner works to heal both body and spirit.
- When each practitioner's assessment is part of the evaluation and diagnostic process, then the treatment process can be potentially accelerated because the recommended approaches will treat both the cause and the effect.
Thomas Edison stated, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." How do I know when it's my intuition and not my mind trying to convince me?
When it's your intuition, both minds are working in harmony in the decision-making process. They're in agreement with the outcome and ready to implement. You'll experience this in the form of excitement, enthusiasm, and exhilaration. You'll find yourself eager to move forward and open to change. There's an unspoken sense of anticipation of better things to come. The emotions you'll experience will be positive.
When it's your conscious mind driving the decision-making process, you'll experience an inner conflict that manifests itself as anxiety. You'll feel restless, agitated, tense, and resistant to change. You'll want to dig in your heels, play it safe and take the path of least resistance by sticking with what's familiar. You'll only see the reasons why the change won't work and the emotions you'll experience will be negative.
Medical Intuitive Diagnostics as a Profession
Medical Intuition as a profession is in its infancy as far as acceptability among allopathic medicine. It was only up until late 1990's that the use of medical intuition came into awareness and the medical profession began to use these services. There are currently educational programs that will teach medical intuitive diagnostics.

Healing Hint:
Fatigue is one of the most common complaints when a person visits their doctor. Complaints about exhaustion, being stressed, lack of concentration, poor quality sleep, and an overall sense of not feeling well. To banish common fatigue, take a one-minute vacation by pausing to enjoy life's small pleasures – the fragrance of a flower, the gurgling sound of a fountain or brook, the beauty of nature, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the physical pleasure of walking. Notice and try to enjoy whatever is around you.
