GERD (Acid Reflux) |
|
GERD or Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease is frequently referred to as acid reflux or more commonly as heartburn. However it has nothing to do with the heart. Over 40 percent of people in the United States suffer from GERD and of those, most complain of daily bouts of acid reflux. The discomfort of GERD is caused by the upward backflow of stomach acid, bile, pepsin, and undigested liquids into the esophagus. GERD occurs when the esophageal sphincter relaxes more often than it should or at inappropriate times, allowing the stomach contents to back up. The damage that this reflux causes is inflammation and even scarring of the esophagus as well as increasing the risk of esophageal cancer. Psychologically, GERD reveals that there’s something we can’t stomach about a situation or a relationship. Its presence is telling us that we’re stressed and irritated about something and that the something is causing us to turn on ourselves. It reveals that we’re disapproving of ourselves.
If you, a loved one or a friend suffers from GERD, you will want to join me on this Your Health teleclass as I will be sharing more of the hidden psychological meanings behind it and offering suggestions on how it can be treated through alternative therapies rather than antacids or acid reducers. I will be discussing the role personality plays in the susceptibility of GERD and how it energetically maps in the chakra system.
